Utah Trip

Ryan and I had a great time in Utah with his family over the 24th of July.
After a day of airport appreciation...

...we flew into Grand Junction and Brent drove the 4 hours to pick us up that night. It was a long and tiring day but we made it and were thrilled to be there.
We spent Saturday in Park City shopping and eating and mostly enjoying the cool weather. It was nice to have a small break from the Texas heat and humidity.

We had to pick up this cute fork for baby Jackson!!

The next few days we relaxed, celebrated the 24th with a parade and lunch at Grandma Scotts, and caught up with the family. It is always fun to see the nieces and nephews!!
Alec came up to hang out with his friends and we had spent out time outside at the parks, pools and movie theaters. Alec is a rock star in Utah and has won the love of everyone. It's not hard for the dude...he is so good looking and very manly!! ;)

My biggest surprise was the baby shower Ryan's family pulled off. It was a complete surprise and I had no idea it was even in the works. We were "going to dinner" and I was excited about that! When Ryan and I got back to his parent house I walked in the door to his mom and sisters, aunts and grandma!! I was slightly confused but caught on fast. The party moved downstairs to the basement and guests started to arrive. I was super shocked when my mom walked in the door and had flown in from Texas to join the party!! She came with my grandma George, aunt Melissa, "ant" Nikki and some of my cousins!! So much love and support!
I still can't believe how well they pulled it off! I am so blessed with such a wonderful family and appreciate all they do for me. We went home with two extra suitcases full of clothes, blankets and toys for baby Jackson. It was a wonderful surprise!!

We had cake balls galore!! Haley and Alys went slightly overboard but boy were they good!!

Darling diaper cake made by Alys!

Morning flew in that morning and brought the delicious box of macaroons all the way from NYC!! Yum

Diane found this darling baby book for Jackson! It's perfect:) Gracie was my helper opening gifts...she is the cutest!

Mr. Sock T. Pus! Such a cute idea! Thanks Jensens:)

My cousin Kristine came and made Jackson his very own aviator hat and goggles!! I can't wait to put them on him! Such a crackup!!
Needless to say we are spoiled rotten! It was a great trip with great memories!!

Boy or Girl??

What a week it has been. The first of the month we went in to see our dr. and he told us to schedule our sonogram for four weeks out. He said to bring a DVD because they would be able to tell us if we were having baby Kate or baby Jackson!! Oh boy was I excited!!! I have a really hard time waiting for things (Ryan will tell you that!) it was ten times worse then waiting for Christmas morning.

Everyone I talked to said "oh that's too early". "How will they be able to tell?" "Who is your dr?" I started to second guess this whole sono thing and was trying not to get my hopes up, but it was too late...they were through the roof!

The morning came and our appointments was at 9:30. Taking the advice of all I had a glass of orange juice with breakfast, a bottle of water and a large coke from McDonald's on our way to the office.  This baby was going to be dancing if I had anything to say about it!

Some say it helps to have a full bladder so I thought why not?
Well I found out why not when the lady at the desk let us know they were running just a few minutes behind. She said about 25 to 30 to 45 minutes. Whatever that means. So we waited. And not very patiently either...I was dying.

Well an hour later we were called back and the sono tech asked why we were there. "it's probably too early to see the sex but I will take my best look". WHAT? I was about in tears but there was not much we could do. After only a few short minutes she had evidence! IT'S A BOY!!!

We were thrilled! Ryan even did a little dance in his chair!! A moment I hope to never forget. She has not been wrong in 15 years of work and I would say that's a pretty good track record so we will go with it!

It was party time! We had the family over and everyone had to choose team girl or team boy with a bow tie or lips. Brooke made cupcakes and while she ran to the store I filled them with blue! My mom and dad took the first big bite. It was a great way to celebrate!

Baby Jackson Ryan will join us in December!!!
